Mot of these birds lives are spent on the water, resting on waves, diving into the water, and nesting on the cliffs of the coasts. Atlantic puffins can dive up to 200 feet. They are excellent swimmers, as they use a flying like motion under the water and using rudder-like feet to steer themselves.
When flying a puffin will flap it's wings about 400 times per minute and can reach speeds of 55mph. Iceland is the breeding ground for 60% of Atlantic Puffins. They will lay a single egg that both parents incubate. The puffin couples will reunite at the same burrow site each year.
